GUATEMALA

I had a great time hanging out with my friend Jenni in Guatemala from February 25th - March 5th. Here are some of the highlights from my trip. This pic was from Lake Atlitan, where we spent a couple days

 Jocotenango

This is a view of the town square in Jocotenango, where I stayed while in Guatemala, just outside Antigua (marked by the X above). It was about a ten minute Uber ride to the Antigua town square.

Pamela's house

This is the courtyard view from my room at the house I stayed in for most of my trip. Our host Pamela runs her own marketing business out the from of her house. She rents out two rooms in back. It was nice to not have any other guests besides me and Jenni. We were in a gated community with a pool next door, all for under $40 USD a night!

This is the Antigua Central Square. So many restaurants, cafe's, shops, historical sites, and the local market, all within walking distance.

El Barrio

There was a collection of bars in one building, called El Barrio. (The neighborhood). We hung out in the sports bar a couple nights, where they had bi-lingual karaoke, pool, and a lot of Chicago sports stuff, great NA beer selection, and for some reason, a Patrick Swayze obsession. We loved this place!

Lake Atlitan

We spent two nights on Lake Atlitan which is 5x10 miles across. The energy there was exquisite. The views were amazing, and the locals and food were great, just like back in Antigua. We even met a local, Cesar, who drove us back to Antigua and provided some great history and facts about Guatemala.
